The Sportsman in Kent is pretty well known now, it has won countless awards and currently holds the title of No 1 in the Top 50 Gastropubs country wide. It is widely described as‘shabby’, although it’s recently had a bit of a makeover and a tidy up, I’m glad to report it’s lost none of it’s charm.
It has been open since 1999 and held a Michelin star since 2008. In that time the two brothers, Philip taking care of business in the front of house and Stephen taking care of business in the kitchen have managed not to change any one of the great and special things that bring people from all over the world to eat there.
All diners are welcome at The Sportsman, at one table will sit a party from Belgium the States, or Norway who’ve come to England just to eat at the pub and then next to them a couple from Faversham celebrating a wedding anniversary.. local and international diners side by side enjoying the relaxed informal atmosphere and the unrivalled cuisine.
