THE EGG AND CHIP CLUB
So we meet, the 3 of us, every 6 weeks for a foray into the cafe world of London, we are yet to venture further a field… but are hoping to go country wide. We always order the same double egg and chips tea and white sliced bread, preferably the crusty kind.
We are particular, we like fresh eggs with deep yellow yolks that are fried to perfection and chips that are crispy and hand cut and cooked in fresh oil. The condiments are also important, we are brown sauce lovers with our Egg and Chips, it has to be genuine, no added vinegar to make it go further thats for sure!
The tea has to be strong in flavour dark in colour and served in a mug. These things make the perfect experience. Along with a classic interior and personality.
Sometimes we hit a winner such as The Regency in Victoria, which has been the best so far. For egg chips, tea, people watching, decor and banter with the staff
A close second is The Shepherdess in Islington. Who can’t love a painted gingham curtain on the window, its only downfall was the over generous 3 eggs that arrived on each plate.
